Books to Read in 2018

I challenged myself to reading 12 books last year and I didn't quite accomplish it, but this year I do really want to read more and these are some of the books I can't wait to get stuck into!

One of Us is Lying: I found this book in Waterstones and knew instantly it was based on The Breakfast Club! It's one of my favourite films but the book has a massive twist, as in one of the characters gets murdered! I'm really interested to see how close the book is to the film and what will happen throughout once the character has been murdered.

Small Gods: As everyone has figured out now, I am a massive fan of Terry Prachett and I can't wait to read more of his stuff. My dad recommended this book because it tells you a lot about the Discworld itself, so I thought this would be a good one to read soon!

Mort: Sticking with the TP theme, this is one of the books I already have in the fancy covers so I want to get that read soon too! It's about Death getting an apprentice and I love Death's character in all of the books I have read so far, so I can't wait to get started on this.

Heir of Fire: This is the 3rd book in the Throne of Glass series and so far I'm loving everything about it! I have a review on Throne of Glass and these books really get me excited! They're so interesting and I honestly have feelings for the characters because they're so well developed!

Trainspotting: I only saw the original film to this last year but I absolutely loved it! It's so hard hitting and if anything has taught me in life, it's usually that the book is better than the film, so I'm really interested to see how this turns out!

Frankenstein: I haven't read my classics but I am building my collection up. One of the classics I already own is Frankenstein so I really want to get my nose into that! Some of the covers to the classics I have at the moment are really beautiful and although you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, with these books being so long lived I don't think I have anything to worry about!

Great Expectations: Here's another classic I want to read this year. My best friend bought me this not Christmas just gone, but Christmas before, and I still haven't read it! She says it's a really good book so I can't wait to get started!

So those are the main books I want to get read in 2018! I'm hoping to read a few more than those, but those are the ones I really want to get started on! I love reading and I usually read in my lunch at work and just before bed. Where are your favourite places to read? What books do you want to read in this year? Let me know!

Until next time...

  1. I read One of Us is Lying towards the end of last year and loved it, but I haven't seen The Breakfast Club, so I have no idea how similar it is to the film!

    1. I've actually just finished the book and after reading it I would say that it was more inspired by it than based on it. Only the characters and the start of the book are similar to the film! I thought the book was great and I'm glad I read it, but definitely give The Breakfast Club a go, it's one of my favourite films! There is a definite divide with people that have seen it though, you either love it or find it really boring, haha! xox
